Charlize, she’s not saying she’s not hot. She knows she’s hot as shit. She’s saying the entertainment industry big-wigs don’t think she’s hot because she doesn’t look like Halle Berry (who fits their very narrow ideas of what a Black woman should look like to be beautiful).
Viola’s saying her chances of getting work are limited not just because she’s a woman and she’s older (and older women rarely get work if they’re not Meryl Streep), but because she’s also Black and not the “acceptable” shade.
